Heather Updegraff, general manager, Vehicle Marketing & Communications, is quoted as saying: “Many people want to take care of the environment, but also need a big car to handle family and gear. So, we moved hybrid into other vehicles [instead of just the Prius] so that people didn’t feel like they had to make a choice between taking care of the environment or taking care of their own needs.”
It really all depends on the model you choose. But remember, MSRP doesn’t necessarily mean the model will cost you more money — think long-term when you choose a Toyota hybrid or all-electric vehicle. Fully electrified powertrains will have lower operating costs, and both all-electric and hybrid models allow you an alternative power source to gas. Say goodbye to gas stations!
Regenerative braking is one of the Toyota brand’s biggest assets. By using a mechanism within the engine, Toyota hybrid models are able to recapture kinetic energy anytime you need to brake. That energy is redirected back into the engine to create electricity, conserving energy that would have otherwise been lost.
Great question! If you charge your phone at night, you should have no problem charging your Toyota plug-in hybrid. A charging wall box in your garage and public charging stations will make those anxieties disappear. But if you drive a Toyota hybrid, your vehicle will use regenerative braking to charge your model while you're on the go and use regular gasoline to propel your model forward.
Charging times will vary and are dependent on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition and car condition. You will find specific charging times in the technical specifications for each available electrified model.
In addition to your new 2022 Toyota model’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty and 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, the hybrid system is protected for 96 months or 100,000 miles. The hybrid battery is covered for 120 months or 150,000 miles.2
